The village hall ican be hired for private and corporate events as well as village fund raisers and social activities. Hire of the Hall is open to all residents of Bettisfield and its surrounding districts and can be hired for both children’s or adult Parties, meetings and training courses, wedding receptions and funeral teas. History of our village hall
Built in 1893 by the Hanmer Estate as a school for the children of Bettisfield, it remained a school until the 1960s. A plot of land adjacent to the School was to be developed as the new Village Hall, however as the school was closed the Village Hall Committee approached the Hanmer Estate with a view to using the school as the Village Hall. The School was purchased from the Hanmer Estate with funds raised by the Village Residents.
The Hall is a Registered Charity and is held in trust by the Charity Commission acting as custodians on behalf of the residents of Bettisfield. No further developments were made to the Hall until 2001 when the old school playground was converted to a Sensory Garden with funds granted under Wrexham County Borough Councils Rural Scheme.
In 2003 the grounds surrounding the Hall were extended following a kind donation of land by Mr & Mrs Parker of Bettisfield Hall Farm Grants were obtained again under the Rural Scheme for groundwork and planning permission to provide a Children’s Play area. 2005 saw the introduction of the multi use games area, funding for this development came from article 33 funds provided by the Welsh Assembly, This is available by way of Season Tickets or Casual Bookings (details on notice attached to gate)
The Hall was refurbished in 2007, a new roof to the kitchen area along with new toilets and a toilet for the disabled were built, new windows and doors were also fitted. The kitchen was refitted providing a LPG cooker, refrigeration and hot water system, new furniture was purchased and the hall redecorated inside and out. Funds for this were again provided from the Welsh Assembly via Wrexham County Borough Council.
