Bettisfield is ‘Off the map’ as far as mainstream bus companies are concerned. If you don’t have your own transport and want to travel out of the village then you will have to walk but there are signs of change.
New Community Bus Service
The Rainbow Centre is starting a new Community Bus service from Hanmer and Bettisfield to Stan’s Supermarket every Friday. The cost is £3 return but you must book a seat by phoning 01948 830730. It will leave at 11am and you will have time for shopping and lunch before returning home where it will drop you at your door.
Monday Market Service
This service from Bettisfield to Wrexham. The 45F is a ‘Hopandstopper’ that runs every Monday from Cadney Lane bus shelter at 10.00am to Wrexham Bus Station, returning at 1.15 pm. Monday is market day in Wrexham so this is a useful service. The service connects Bettisfield, Horseman’s Green, Tallan Green, Worthenbury and Wrexham.
NS Wheeler’s Community Bus Project
A new Community Bus project has been launched by NS Wheelers You can find out about their local services to Ellesmere, Wem, Whitchurch and Market Drayton by visiting their website (www.northsalopwheelers.co.uk) or telephoning 01948 880037.
Hanmer the nearest regular bus stopping point
The nearest bus service is the Whitchurch – Wrexham service run by Arria, nearest stops are in Bronnington or Hanmer both about 3.5 miles distant.
An Opportunity Knocks!!!
If you have a kayak or inflatable lilo you could use the canal to get to Ellesmere or Whitchurch along the Llangollen canal. Perhaps some enterprising person could start up a water taxi service?
